Educational purpose only
All content on Pawculate, including all calculators, articles, and supporting text, is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. This content does not constitute veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
The calculators on this site use general formulas derived from published veterinary guidelines and scientific literature. They are designed to give pet owners a starting point for understanding their pet's nutritional, behavioural, and health needs — not to provide individualised medical guidance.
No veterinarian-client-patient relationship
Use of Pawculate does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR). Pawculate is not staffed by licensed veterinarians. No content on this website should be interpreted as a recommendation, prescription, or endorsement of any specific treatment, medication, diet, or health decision for your individual pet.
Medication dosing disclaimer
The Pet Medication Dose Reference tool provides general weight-based dosing estimates for commonly discussed over-the-counter medications and supplements. These estimates are derived from published veterinary literature and are frequently cited as general guidelines. However:
- Individual pets may require different doses based on health conditions, organ function, concurrent medications, and other factors only known to a veterinarian.
- Some dogs and cats have underlying conditions (liver disease, kidney disease, epilepsy, etc.) that make certain medications contraindicated even at standard doses.
- Product formulations change — always verify ingredients on the current package before administering any medication.
- Never use human medications on pets without explicit veterinary approval.
Always consult a licensed veterinarian before administering any medication to your pet, including over-the-counter products.
Formula accuracy
While Pawculate strives for accuracy and sources formulas from reputable veterinary publications, we cannot guarantee that all calculations are error-free or applicable to every individual pet. Individual variation in metabolism, health status, and other factors means that standardised formulas are approximations, not precise measurements. See our Methodology page for detailed source documentation.
Limitation of liability
Pawculate and its operators expressly disclaim all liability for any damages, losses, injuries, or adverse outcomes — to pets or humans — arising from use of or reliance on any information or calculator results provided on this website. Your use of this site is entirely at your own risk.
Consult your veterinarian
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) recommends that all pets receive regular preventive care from a licensed veterinarian. There is no substitute for professional veterinary examination and diagnosis. If you have any concerns about your pet's health, diet, weight, behaviour, or medication needs, please schedule a consultation with a licensed veterinarian in your area.
